Everything you need know about Root Canal
Root Canals are advised when the cavity reaches the most central and painful portion of the tooth the nerve chamber and the blood supply of the tooth gets affected. In such case tooth needs immediate treatment and this treatment is called Root Canal. With the advanced technology and dental tools availaible Dr. Sameeksha is skilled at making this procedure painless. This procedure is either carried out in single or multiple visit appointments.
Step 1. The tooth to be treated has to be numbed along with the surrounded area with the help of local anaesthesia.
Step 2. Accessing the pulp: Our doctor will make a small opening to access the infected pulp with the help of bur.
Step 3. Removing the Pulp: Using special tools the doctor will carefully clear out the damaged pulp from the tooth canal.
Steps carried out during this procedure are as follows:
Step 4. Cleaning and shaping the root canal to prepare it for filling.
Step 5. Root canal is filled with compatible inert dental material called gutta-percha and sealed to prevent further infection.
Step 6: Placement of crown is necessary after root canal treatment to restore the tooth structure and protect from any further damage to the tooth.
In conclusion the ROOT CANAL treatment is common and effective procedure done to save the tooth from tooth removal and aggressive pain caused by the infected tooth.
ROOT CANAL IS ADVISED IN:
1. Tooth decay
2. Secondary Infection: If previsiously restored teeth undergo decay again due to shrinkage of old tooth fillings. In such case the patient begins to feel sensitivity or pain and decay remain unnoticed until the soft tissue of the tooth is affected.
3. Trauma: If patient falls or met with road accident an cause tooth injury such case tooth may eventually discolor in the course of time.
4. Other cause such as prolong habit of teeth grinding eventually cause wearing out of teeth to extent that soft tissue of the teeth gets affected.
